Why Real Estate is a Good Side Hustle

Let’s keep it real! You have to pay the bills.

During these challenging times, when most of us are dodging a cough or a sneeze trying to stay healthy and sane, we’re also losing sleep thinking about bills.

Can we pay them? What happens if we don’t? Will that PPP loan go through before the money runs out? The concerns are endless.

Here’s what we know. You need sleep to keep your immune system healthy and you need money to survive this financial dark side. This is why a side hustle might make sense. And, real estate could be the answer.

Here are the deets.

Flexible Hours

You can work when you want to, for as long as you want to. And, you can work from home. Not all real estate agents make this their full-time hustle. You can show homes on the weekends or cover open houses for another agent for extra cash.

Limitless Income Potential

You do not get paid an hourly wage. You earn commissions on transactions. The more homes you sell, the more the money you will make. Here’s a tip. Make sure your clients are happy with your service a and they will refer friends and family forever.

Meet New People

You meet a lot of amazing people who are doing phenomenal things. And, you get to help them find their dream home, investment property or vacation oasis. But, let’s be honest, not all of them will be amazing. If It’s not a good fit, you can refer them to another agent and get paid a referral fee.

Referral Fees

If you’re not interested in helping folks find their dream home, you can still lead the way. If you are a licensed real estate agent, you can refer buyers or sellers to another agent pretty much anywhere in the world and get paid. Yep! You make the introduction, work out the details in writing and you get paid a cut of the agent’s commission. Yes, you heard me. Because you simply introduce the buyer or seller to the agent, you get paid.

Virtual Assistant

If you want to just put your toe in the water, being a virtual assistant to a real estate agent will give you a taste of what it’s like to work in the business. You might send emails to clients, manage appointments and property listings or send postcards and newsletters for the agent.

The great thing about real estate is you can step in as much or as little as you like. You do need time and money to get started, having killer connections will help too. So, reach out to an agent you know or one you don’t. We’re pretty friendly and, usually, happy to talk about the business.
